The Brief

The original bathroom in this Greenwood home had reached the end of its life. The fixtures were dated, the colour scheme felt dark and heavy, and the layout was inefficient. Our client wanted a clean, modern look with more open space and practical upgrades – including better lighting, more accessible storage, and a freestanding bath for a touch of luxury.

They were especially drawn to the idea of a minimalist design that didn’t compromise on warmth or usability. With this in mind, our team developed a custom design centred around premium materials, clean lines, and soft neutral tones.

Demolition & Rebuild

We began with a full strip-out of the existing bathroom, removing the old cabinetry, wall tiles, built-in corner bath, and outdated shower screen. Once gutted, we reworked the layout to improve the use of space, streamline the room’s lines, and give each area its own distinct function.

We installed a new freestanding bath, a feature often requested for its comfort, aesthetic appeal, and ease of cleaning. Alongside this, we included a walk-in shower with a minimalist glass panel and a custom-built nib wall and recessed niche for storage – a practical detail that enhances the shower experience while keeping clutter out of sight.

Finishes & Features

Large-format 1200mm x 600mm porcelain tiles were selected for both the walls and floors, creating a seamless, high-end look with minimal grout lines. This tile choice helps the space feel larger and more cohesive while offering long-term durability.

The custom floating vanity features a soft-close drawer system and a stone benchtop in a dark contrast tone, providing both style and functionality. Twin above-counter basins paired with sleek black tapware add a touch of drama and modern elegance.

Matte black fixtures and fittings were used consistently throughout, including the rain-style showerhead, towel rails, tapware, and accessories. This cohesive choice adds visual interest and reinforces the minimalist, contemporary aesthetic.

Lighting & Ventilation

Upgraded lighting and extraction were also included in the renovation. A new LED exhaust and heat lamp system ensures the space is bright and warm when needed, while adequate ventilation keeps the air fresh and reduces moisture build-up.
